Why is it that Democrats assume Libertarians and Republicans are the least charitable? The presumption is a false argument created from a slippery slope assumption. Democrats and all progressives assume that a person who is against the coercive income tax (Libertarians) or excessive taxation on capital gains, death tax and payroll (Republicans), is a person who is stingy and not willing to help other people. The opposite is often proven but to no fanfare from the media.

Fiscal conservatives desire to help others with their own money and contributions and they like to know that their charity directly helps others. Progressives want to take everyone's money and redistribute it through channels that cost money and don't really work. Reduce our taxes and end the con income tax and charity will rise and local help through missions and local charities will be far greater.
