POSITION DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Wandering WiFi is in search of an experienced Database Administrator to join our Development Team. The ideal candidate has a well rounded understanding of the overall business intelligence space from data warehousing, dimensional modeling, ETL, cubing services, etc. On top of that, the person should have great interpersonal and communication skills, as well as professional maturity - e.g. Understanding of financial aspects of the architectural decisions and cost-benefit analysis. This person must be willing to demonstrate a “hands on” approach as well as mentor the team. This person is responsible for database planning and design, set-up, maintenance, back-ups, performance tuning, partitioning, and disaster recovery. In addition, the SQL DBA will manage the scheduling of an enterprise, high transactional volume database.
• Install and configure databases (including tables, views, keys, etc), administer policies, standards, procedures and guidelines necessary to effectively maintain the database environment.
• Gather and analyze business requirements and develop and lead the enterprise data architecture strategy to conform and manage data across an organization.
• Provides design recommendations based on long-term IT organization strategy.
• Develops commercial, enterprise level application and custom integration solutions including major enhancements and interfaces, functions and features.
• Create, monitor and execute Data Transformation Services (DTS) packages for the migration of data from various data sources to SQL Server databases. Experience with SQL Server Integration Services preferred. Cross-database experience with MySQL preferred.
• Document and maintain database system specifications, diagrams and connectivity charts
• Create database queries, indexes and stored procedures, some with a high degree of complexity. Assist and educate staff members on the creation of these procedures.
• Design complex physical and logical data models
• Performance-tune and optimize all databases
• Install and configure any new data servers (hardware, software, physical databases)
• Develop, test and administer server security procedures
• Develop, test and administer database backup and recovery procedures
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 5+ years of experience with SQL Server 2000 family (2005 preferred and 2008 a plus)
• Extensive experience with SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, T-SQL
• Experience using ERD and data modeling with data dictionaries
• Must be able to demonstrate experience managing the set up and upgrades of complex databases, including interfacing with source control and change control in order to generate creation, upgrade, and maintenance scripts
• Extensive experience Creating and Optimizing Database Queries, Indexes, Stored Procedures, Triggers, and Reports
• Experience with Database Planning and Design, Set-up, Maintenance, Performance Tuning, and Partitioning
• Experience in Database Backup, Recovery, Replication and Disaster Recovery
