The title of the study is "Association of Variants in SLC308A8 and TCF7L2 Genes with Insulin Secretion in Overweight/Obese African Americans" sponsored by the NIH (National Institute of Health). The purpose of the study is to investigate whether some changes in genes (DNA) can help to find Insulin Resistance earlier in a simpler way. The study consists of two phases. Phase one is an OGTT (Oral Glucose Tolerance Test) to screen for Diabetes (visit time: 2 1/2 hours, compensation: $25).
