A Towne Lake family is looking for a dependable, positive, and patient person to join our home therapy team using Floortime play therapy with our 2 ½ year old autistic son. Don’t know anything about Floortime? Don’t worry, we will teach you and you will receive training from one of the leading DIR/Floortime professionals in the city. What you do need is a lot of energy, patience, creativity, persistence, and most importantly, the heartfelt desire to make a difference in the life of a very sweet boy affected by autism.
We are looking for someone who is able to commit to 8 to 15 hours a week (which can/will include weekends). Pay is commensurate with your childcare experience and will start at $12/hour. If you have Floortime experience, we can negotiate for more.
Requirements:
Applicants must have considerable experience working with young children. While experience with children affected by autism is not a requirement, it is preferred.
Applicants must have reliable transportation.
This is a great resume building experience, especially for those interested in careers in working with special needs children. Undergraduate and graduate students are strongly encouraged to apply.

What Is Autism?
Autism is a devastating neurological and biological disorder typically affecting children between the ages of 18 months to five years of age. Autism affects the normal functioning of the brain, impacting development in the areas of social interaction and communication skills. Children with autism typically show difficulties in verbal and nonverbal communication, social interaction, and leisure or play activities. Autism affects each individual differently and at different levels of severity.
