It is a small computer chip the size of a grain of rice that is commonly implanted in the pet near the shoulder blades. It is implanted with a special syringe and the procedure only takes a few moments. It may sting the pet momentarily, but this goes away quickly, and the benefits of having your pet microchipped far outweigh the few seconds of discomfort (the procedure is much like giving vaccinations to the animal). The chip is designed to attach itself inside the skin and it can be left in place for the rest of the animal's life without harm.

If a pet who has been implanted with a chip is found and taken to a shelter or veterinarian who has a scanner, the scanner will detect the presence of a chip and the shelter or vet can call a registry to find the owner information. It is imperative that owners of chipped animals make sure their registry information is complete and updated as needed. (The agency that microchips your pet will either send in your registry info for you, or will give you all the info you need to send it in yourself.)

Because of microchipping, animals have been reunited with their owners even after years of being lost, and at great distances. It is not foolproof, as there are several brands of chips and scanners, and all are not compatible yet. The AHS uses the 24PetWatch Microchips and our scanners can read the common chips (even from other companies) out there.

Microchipping is a great way to make sure lost pets can get home again. Make sure your pet wears an updated I.D. tag on his collar at all times, too (you can make your own when you adopt). Ask a staff member for more information.

Micro-chipping
$25 includes the implantation of a microchip and free registration of the chip with a national database. (to aid in locating your pet if it becomes lost). To get your pet micro-chipped call the veterinary wellness hospital at 404.875.6420.

Items taken include: a large variety of Snap-On-Tools, and 2 - tool carts with wheels that hold shop tools. NOTE: Most of the tools are used in the auto mechanic industry and are clearly marked (engraved); "Tom I.".

Also taken was a Clarke mig weilder... and in the process of stealing it the thieves dropped the side cover to it. The original paint color on the weilder is light blue... however, it might now be painted a different color. A simply scratch test might show any over-paint.

Also taken were ten Interstate car batteries (various sizes) that were brand new and still wrapped in plastic.

Also taken was a 1998 Black Dodge 4X4 (3 door).

Also taken was the title to a 1991 white Ford Escort.

And finally, the thieves also took a Protector Plate for a 1967 Camaro. This was a sentimental item that has no value and was worth nothing to anyone else. The Protector Plate was used for a RS/SS (Rally Sport - Super Sport) convertable. The Plate doccuments the ownership of the vehicle and shows that I was one of only two owners. It also documents the car as being a true original.

The break-in occured on August 30, 2009.

Friday afternoon (11/6/09) a year old small long hair grey & white mixed color female cat (white feet and pink/reddish collar) was staggering down the middle of Sycamore Drive.  All cars stopped at 4pm!  Turns out that she has been lost for a little while and needs to go home.  She was staggering down the street because her eyes were coated shut.  She is dehydrated and hungry and is now resting comfortably at a local vet.
 
If you know of a neighbor missing this wonderful cat, please let us know asap!  She needs to go home and can’t stay at the vet.

I recently returned from a vacation for a wedding anniversary, it was wonderful. HOWEVER, within the last 24 hours of travel my husband and I lost our camera. (or it was stolen, we just don't know). We flew from Rome, Italy to Atlanta, then on to Denver and somehwhere along the way - our camera was lost.

The CANON POWERSHOT digital camera was in a BLACK CASE WITH A GREY WRISTSTRAP.

It has about 800 pictures on it, many of them are my husband & I in front of the Eiffel tower, the Coliseum, on a gondola ride in Venice, Italy. (I told you it was a wonderful trip, I was thankful to be able to go) HOWEVER, the first 30 pictures are fairly random and actually I got to load them onto my computer before we left and just forgot to delete them off the camera.

So should you find the camera, these are some of the first pictures you will see.
