hello. i am an entrepreneur who has started a few businesses over the past few years. Recently a long time family friend approached me about helping him start his own roofing company.
i've decided to partner together with him to launch his business with the target of getting started Jan 2010. we are in the planning stages now and i am looking to recruit someone who will get involved and handle the business management and sales/marketing of the business under my direction.
my partner has 20 plus year of experience in roofing and has had his own successful company in the past. Recently he came back to Atlanta after several years away and has been working for someone else. He is ready to start his business up again and i am confident that his honesty and sound personal values will combine with his experience and passion for the work to translate into a successful business. I am taking a minority position in the business and am responsible for the business management and marketing side.
i currently have several other ventures so i cannot dedicate much time to this. I am interested in helping this gentleman get started and i see the potential this business has. I am looking for someone who will work under my direction and get involved now with the business plan and will then execute the sales, marketing, and business management tasks of the business. I can point you in the right direction and keep you from making mistakes, and i can give you ideas about how to grow the business. What i need is someone with time and passion, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to work hard. you will be paid like a partner. there will not be a lot of money in the business to start but once the phones start ringing we can grow as large as we want to, and you will be paid like a partner.
you have to be a self starter and passionate about business. while money is important it should not be the main thing that appeals to you about this job--rather it should be the chance to get involved with something new, on the ground floor, and for your work to make a difference.
Keep in mind it will be your job to sell the services of a roofing company. If you don't think you can do that, do not apply. Also keep in mind that this will be a business that you will be driving yourself. I can give you guidance and a road map, but it's going to be up to you to make it successful, and if you do so, you'll make money, but if you don't, none of us will.
You should want to hold down this position for at least 12-24 months. if the business is growing and you want to continue from there, that is of course great.
pay - i will be paying you a nominal amount out of my pocket until you start generating work. at that point you'll be paid commission until the business can support a salary. this may end up being part time work but that will be up to you and how successful you can make it.
