Most ladies would probably prefer this to go with their evening wear, and it's definitely a dress up necklace rather than something to dress down with. Everything on this necklace is either glass, crystal, or silver, there is no plastic or acrylic or anything 'junky' of any kind. The design itself is bold, the materials selected are top quality, and the piece has been assembled by a professional designer and jeweler. The pictures simply do not approach the real look of this piece when viewed with the naked eye, doing it no justice at all. I can only describe the look as 'brilliant'.
The artist who made this piece believes the construction and materials were too costly, and after completing it and presenting it to me advised she was going to break it down but wanted me to see it first. I told her that such an exquisite piece certainly isn't for the faint of heart, and that some daring woman would eagerly snatch up such a sexy, unique creation. The total length is 24", but the artist advised me it could be shortened to an extremely sexy choker if preferred.
Edit: To describe the piece a little further, the center piece is indeed one round ball of crystals, all one piece. However, the smaller "balls" lining the outside of the piece are actually three pieces in one, per "ball". It's actually a crystal ring, flanked by two clear bumper crystals that set into the ring a bit giving it the look of a round ball. The piece was designed to enable rotation of each of the three pieces comprising the smaller balls independently, increasing the active brilliance of the necklace. The end result is a grand total of 49 individual Swarovski Crystal embellishments, the deciding factor in the value of this piece.
