Legalized Discrimination
In a democratic society based upon the principals of justice and the pursuit of happiness for all citizens it is highly inconceivable that criminal background checks are currently in use to disqualify qualified potential applicants from obtaining gainful employment.
This subtle yet legal form of discrimination has contributed more to poverty, crime, and welfare assistance than all of the political agendas combined. Simply put, when citizens who desire to work are dismissed at the hiring door due to their past circumstances they are oftentimes forced to seek alternative means of financial sustainment. Many of the alternatives include illegal activities or utilizing many of the social welfare programs which are ultimately financed by the tax payer (mostly middle class).
In certain circumstances some background checks prove to be essential when applied in the areas of childcare, financial institutions, or government jobs dealing with sensitive information- however the trend in America is to require a clean past in order to operate machinery, prepare food, and even in some cases to walk dogs.
I find it both surprising and disturbing that very little attention has been given to this growing epidemic. In this day and age our economy is suffering greatly and our inner cities are becoming submerged in moral decay. No “one” politician is willing to take on this issue single handedly and yet this grave situation requires immediate relief.
I have taken on the task of forming a civil action network appropriately titled “New Horizons” in which planned protests, demonstrations, and written requests will be initiated.
I am seeking assistance in the form of membership, communications, and financial aid. Please be advised this is not a scam but legitimate call to action. If we can bring enough attention to this crisis which is growing throughout all America it is my belief that someone in Washington will avail themselves to champion our cause. Thank you all .
