EPA Training Academy is offering training and certification to become a State Certified Armed Security Officer. Classes are Every Weekend for State Certified Armed Officer. Classes are filling up fast and only a few spots are left this week. Please call ASAP for registration. The following is an outline of the course and what will be covered:
The Armed Security Officer course is (16) hrs and 24hrs Unarmed to successfully complete the course; the trainee must pass a written exam with a score of 80% and pass with a range score of 80%.
This course is the minimum required by the Georgia Board of Private Detectives and Security Agencies to prepare the security officer for service an Armed Guard. The first eight (8) hours of the course is academic covering subjects such as:
• The three (3) situations which justify use of deadly force INCLUDING Georgia Law and liabilities of such actions
• Ballistics including selecting the proper ammunition and factors that affect trajectory, over-penetration and ricochet;
• Types of handguns. This instruction shall include the following:
1. Nomenclature;
2. Selection of a handgun;
3. Selection of proper ammunition;
4. Care and cleaning of a handgun;
5. Proper techniques for storage, loading and unloading a handgun;
6. Selection of the proper holster and equipment for your weapon;
7. Weapon retention techniques.
The second eight (8) hours are spent on Firearm range qualifications. This instruction will include the following:
1. Proper stance;
2. Proper grip and draw;
3. Sight alignment, sight picture, and trigger control;
4. Firearm range safety;
5. Range procedures and rules of conduct.

Military, law enforcement background is a plus.

This position is for a uniformed unarmed (no firearms) security position. We carry the following equipment after proper training; TASER gun, ASP baton, OC Spray, Handcuffs, and a Radio.
Previous Armed Security Guard, Armored Car Driver, or ATM experience preferred ' Ability to read and understand route schedules.
' Ability to visually and audibly observe surroundings while replenishing ATM's.
' Unrestricted ability to bend, stoop, squat, walk, climb, twist, turn, and reach out.
' Ability to lift 50lbs repeatedly.
' Possession of a valid drivers license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle safely in accordance with the Driver Physical Qualifications established by the U.S. Department Of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration.
' Ability to meet all State requirements for handgun license/permit or Security Officer Commission.
