If you're looking for a pair of retro classic sturdy no frills ready-to-go clincher wheels for your road bike project, look no further. This is a set of vintage Made in the USA SunRims M13II double-walled 700c rims laced to the notoriously smooth and sturdy Shimano 105 hubs. Both wheels work great and ride well; they spin up easily and they are true. They feel quite light in your hande and accelerate rapidly as well! The hub fits Shimano and SRAM cassettes up to 10 speed cassettes. Quick released included. This is not a stock wheelset but a custom-laced one. The rims are $84 each, $168 for the pair+tax=$181 (see link). Shimano 105 freehubs are out of production but the FH5500-5501 generation sells for ~$100 a pair in good condition plus tax and shipping; a pair sold on eBay for $91+$30 shipping (from Japan)+tax=$131. Don't know the cost of the spokes so won't count them. That's over $300 to custom build a pair of these; selling for just $85.

SunRims M13II rims Review:
Summary: Awesome wheels but there was an issue with the stock hub; this set uses superior Shimano 105 hubs.

Shimano 105 hubs Review (4.6/5 stars):
https://products.roadbikereview.com/product/wheels/hubs/shimano/105-fh-5500.html
"Very smooth hub. Great quality/price ratio. Had hub built around Mavic cxp 33 rims. Six years later, rims are gone (sides too thin) and same hub laced around Alex DA 28 rims. Still going strong. Would guess at least 8000kms on these hub. Yes, I would buy again."

"I love the way the 105's pick-up speed, as you crank on the pedals, the wheels just keep buliding momentum and when you're at your peak speed it does not take much effort to maintain it as the hubs want to spin forever."

"The 105 hubs are so smooth that its like pedaling through butter. In my opinion, one of the best upgrades you can do for your bike is upgrading the drive train."

"Excellent hubs for training when you are fat from the off season... They will deal with whatever your bulge will dish-out."
