A joy to drive. Solid, comfortable and quiet. 4WD and low range enables it to scamper up the steepest dirt roads in north Georgia where it has resided for the past 12 years. Has been reliable and we had expected another 50,000 miles out of the car. Selling our mountain-top cabin near Hiawassee (this is where the steep dirt road comes in) so, reluctantly, the car needs to go to a good home where it will be used. Really a delightful car on the road.
Perhaps you don't do these calculations, but IF our expectations are met and the car goes another 50K (seems the average for these beasts), the cost per mile would be 8 cents ($4,000/50,000). Same math for the new, replacement Q-ships yields 27 to 46 cents per mile. Of course, that's why you're looking to buy a good used car in the first place.
Full disclosure department: 1. Cruise control inoperative; told it's a cheap repair but I don't use it in the mountains, so . . . 2. As can be seen in the photos, the foil on the driver's side is missing.( Free advice: I put a car cover on the vehicle when it was outside; the wind whipped the cover around, damaging the foil. So much for taking protective measures.) 3. Driver's seat leather torn on the side. Bought the repair kit, but afraid I'll make things worse so it sits in the glove box. Are you handy – or have more confidence?
