I PURCHASED THIS 1966 MUSTANG COUPE 289 AS A ROLLING CHASSIS BACK IN ~2010. OVERHAULED IT WITH MY UNCLE AND DAILY-DROVE IT FOR YEARS IN COLLEGE AND MY EARLY 20S. IT WAS MY ONLY CAR FOR A FEW YEARS.
WE PUT IN A FOXBODY 5.0 V8 AND REBUILT T-5 FIVE-SPEED, AND PERFORMED A CARB SWAP WITH AN INTAKE/HOLLEY FOUR-BARREL AT THAT TIME. GOT 20+ MPG ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE LONG STOCK GEARS IN THE 8" REAR AXLE UNTIL I PUT IN AN 8.8" AXLE WITH LSD AND 3.79:1 GEARS FROM AN EXPLORER. ADDED AROND 20K MILES TO THE CAR.
EVENTUALLY I PUT IN ANOTHER 5.0 AFTER THE FIRST ONE STARTED KNOCKING, ADDED A COUPLE THOUSAND MILES AND THEN I STARTED AN EFI SWAP ON IT BUT GOT BUSY WITH MY ENGINEERING DEGREE AND NEVER FINISHED. HAS GT40 UPPER AND LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD ($$$) AND OLD OMEGA CAM ROCKERS WITH A STOCK CAM AND VALVETRAIN SPRINGS. 289 LONG-TUBE HEADERS AND DUAL FLOWMASTER 40S. CAR HAS SAT PARKED OUTSIDE SINCE 2017. RUST IN THE REAR WINDOW FRAME AS PICTURED, BUT THE REST OF THE BODY AND CHASSIS IS SOLID. THE CAR WAS A TON OF FUN AS A KID BUT TIME TO MOVE ON.
I'D LIKE TO GET RID OF IT AS A PACKAGE, MAKE ME AN OFFER I CAN'T REFUSE! I KNOW I COULD EASILY MAKE THIS MUCH OR MORE CLEANING THINGS UP A BIT, ORGANIZING BETTER, AND SEPARATING ROLLING CHASSIS, SHORT BLOCK, EFI PARTS, CARBURETORS, MULTIPLE SETS OF WHEELS, AND OTHER PARTS. WE ARE MOVING, AND AS MUCH AS I ONCE LOVED THE CAR I NEED TO BE REALISTIC THAT I WILL NEVER WORK ON THIS PROJECT AGAIN.
