Princeton/ Georgia Tech tutor: ALL math and college prep (Atlanta)

offered in person
offered virtually
Hi Atlanta!

My name is Owen, and it is my pleasure to be at your academic service. I recently graduated cum laude from Princeton with a degree in mathematics, and am currently a PhD student at Georgia Tech (also in math). During my time at Princeton, I worked a few years with Princeton tutoring, where I taught (basically) every math course one can imagine, as well as a lot of college prep subjects (ACT/SAT/essay writing, etc.) Also, in my short time in Atlanta, I have already won an outstanding teaching award for my work as a TA in MATH1554 Linear Algebra for GT. You can be sure that I will bring a lively and intuitive perspective to all of your needs.

My teaching style is derived from the excellent professors I've had at Princeton. I would characterize it as a fine balance of "tough love" (eg., always pushing to be better, challenging an idea, asking many questions, etc.) and making confusing topics accessible, intuitive and fun (eg., always motivating the "why?", seeing how an idea fits into a bigger picture, encouraging students to find their own eureka moment).

Finally, I have tutored students at all skill levels, ranging from struggling immensely, to looking for enrichment in their coursework. Wherever your student stands, there is a place for them here. I maintain a friendly, no-judgement and welcoming environment in my classroom; mistakes are not only not frowned-upon, but they are encouraged. After all, learning from mistakes is the foundation upon which all of modern mathematics is built.

I charge $60 an hour, but this rate is flexible by case. I live in Atlanta near GT without a car, so commute will be difficult, though online tutoring also works for me.

For more info, text 646-206-3191 or email me at owenhuang012@gmail.com, and I look forward to working with you! Have an amazing day,
Owen
