Mr. MOJO Rising…
Have you been looking for some serious guitar mojo? No, not the fake Custom Shop $10,000 “relic’d” kind but the original authentic kind? Then this is your lucky day. This is Mr. Mojo Rising, an all original 1962 Stratocaster with all the mojo you’ll ever need. The great ones get played! And this one has been. This is one of the very last of the SLAB Brazilian rosewood finger boards. 1962 was the Holy Grail year for Stratocasters, just as 1959 was for Les Pauls. Everything came together that year. Three tone sunburst, great wood, the right weight, that legendary one year only neck shape that feels so comfortable, that magic sound, etc.
This Strat was originally gifted to Jimi Hendrix by Eric Clapton after he borrowed it from Jeff Beck, then it ended up in Ritchie Blackmore’s collection before Robin Trower bought it from him and then passed it on to Stevie Ray Vaughan. At least, that’s the story I got. Or wait…maybe I just dreamed it… Anyway, it has been played and shows it and it feels and sounds phenomenal. It drips sexiness and mojo and has the sound to match. Will probably be THE most comfortable Strat neck you’ve ever wrapped your hand around. Weighs 7 and ¾ pounds. Serial 801XX.
It's completely original except for a wonderful professional refret. And the volume pot went out on me so I had it pro replaced with the period-correct replacement. A bit of the high E string tuner was broken off (maybe by Hendrix’s antics?? See photo) when I got it, but it strings up, tunes up and plays perfectly so I left it alone. This guitar never goes out of tune no matter how hard I play it or how long between sessions!
The mint green pick guard is faded but still nicely green, and one tiny tip is broken off as shown. I filed down a guitar pick of the same color to replace that tip and keep it safe (see photo #1). The original case is in fantastic condition, with all the original case candy intact, and wow---when’s the last time you saw the ORIGINAL leather Fender strap in near pristine condition? This is the total package. Use it to calm anxiety with crystal clear bell-tone chords, or peel the paint off the wall with screaming solos, or use it to hypnotize chicks in the audience with its irresistible karma as you play on stage. However the price is FIRM, it’s that special. If you only had one guitar, you couldn’t do any better than Mr. Mojo Rising.
