If you're looking to own a rare, amazing sounding, and most perfect condition vintage Gibson amp on the planet, this one is for you.
Listed as new because I couldn't find a mint option, this amp is in magically time-capsule condition. 1963 Gibson GA-30RVT Invader complete with the original foot switch and factory paperwork. Stunningly well-kept, this GA-30RVT has a complete vintage tube set and a pair of original Jensen speakers comprising a 12” C12R ceramic magnet driver and a 10” P10R alnico magnet speaker.
With the open back cabinet design and combination of speaker sizes (and alnico/ceramic magnet construction), the GA-30RVT has a particularly broad and detailed sound. Cleans are clear and bold with a nice bark when digging in, and the amp overdrives quite nicely around halfway up the “Loudness” dial, with plenty of sizzle, saturation and growl. Reverb is lush and deep. The Tremolo is particularly dimensional and deep with a strong throbbing quality.
The circuit is extremely original and professionally serviced only as strictly necessary, with new electrolytic caps and a modern three-prong power cable. All of the original transformers are intact, with date codes spanning 1962-63, and all of the pots are original as well, with the majority of the circuit neatly laid out on a pair of tag boards chock full of original carbon comp resistors. Tubes comprise a matched pair of Westinghouse 7591 power tubes, a Raytheon-branded rectifier, and all of the original RCA-branded valves in the preamp.
The speakers are both original to the amp, with the larger Jensen 12” C12R speaker dating to the 3rd week of 1963, while the smaller alnico magnet 10” P10R speaker actually dates back to late 1960.
The amp features its original smooth brown covering and two-tone grillcloth, with a large Gibson badge on the face, pristine graphics on the aluminum faceplate, and a full complement of reflector cap knobs.
The original (hard-wired) two-button footswitch is present, as is the original factory paperwork.
