The Women's Football Alliance is the largest and most successful women's league in the world. The league has 65 teams nationwide and, with the playoffs happening RIGHT NOW...we are down to the last 12 teams.
The league is looking for 5-10 interns to write profiles, previews, and recaps of the upcoming Championship games, which will be held in Atlanta, GA over the weekend of July 27 & July 28 at the Fifth Third Bank Stadium at Kennesaw University. Profiles and previews can be done via phone and email; sideline access will be granted for those attending the game and writing recaps.
Some Background: There are three divisions in the WFA. This weekend, July 14, the Division 1 DC Divas are playing the Boston Renegades (in DC) and the Kansas City Titans are playing the LA Warriors (in KC.) The winner of those games will go to the Championships -- along with the winners of the D2 and D3 games also being played this weekend (see the playoff bracket for teams/details.)
All articles will appear on the WFA website and promoted to the public through league social channels, as well as promoted by all teams across the league. The writer is also welcome to put the article on their own blog/website.
All work will be completed in AP style and edited by the writer for spelling (names are very important,) syntax, and clarity.
Quotes, written in AP style, are required. Submissions are via email.
Please forward a cover letter, resume, and links to writing samples. Sports writing experience is preferred but not necessary.
College students/entry level writers encouraged to apply. Contributing interns will be considered for paid opportunities for the 2019 season.
