1983 Centurion Turbo. It was the top-of-the-line offering by Centurion for '83 and '84. The frame and fork are Japanese-made Tange Champion #1 tubing(Tange's lightest). The tubing is doubled butted chromoly-steel and has Suntour forged dropouts and investment cast lugs. The entire frame is chromed under the paint.

From the '83 catalog: "Designed for competition with short wheel base, compact frame geometry, and the newest state-of-the-art components. Yet priced at one half less than comparable machines from Europe."

The bike was completely disassembled, cleaned, and rebuilt, piece by piece. It has new tires, new tubes, new rim strips, new stainless steel cables, new cable housings, new brake pads, new brake lever hoods, and new internal ball bearings. The chain and freewheel have recently been replaced. Everything works perfectly.

The frame measures 23" from the center of the crank to the top of the top tube. The standover height is 32 3/4" from the ground to the top of the top tube. The top tube measures 57cm center-to-center. A rider around 5'8 to 6ft should fit. To check fit, measure your crotch height to see if you are taller than the standover height.

The bike was completely disassembled. All the components and the drivetrain were removed, deep-cleaned, and adjusted. The fork was removed and the headset bearings were replaced, greased, and the headset was adjusted. The wheelhub bearings were all replaced, greased and adjusted. The internal cups and cones where all these bearings travel were all deep-cleaned to provide the cleanest and smoothest surface possible. The wheels were trued, the rims and spokes were individually cleaned. The bottom bracket was rebuilt with new ball bearings and fresh grease. The frame was cleaned and polished. The brake calipers and levers, shifters, derailleurs, cranks and chainrings, and drivetrain were all disassembled and rebuilt. There's not a nut or bolt on the bike I haven't touched.

This is a 12-speed vintage road/racing bike. The bike has a Suntour Superbe rear derailleur, a Suntour Cyclone MkII front derailleur, and Suntour Superbe shifters. The crankset is Sugino Aero Mighty with 52/42 chainrings. The freewheel is a replacement - a Sunrace 6-speed(the chain and freewheel were previously replaced). The bike has Dia-Compe Aero Compe 300G brake calipers with Gran Compe brake levers. The wheels have Sunshine Gyromaster hubs on UKAI gold-colored alloy 700 x 25c rims. The frame is pretty but it has some scuffs. In the scuffed places you'll notice that underneath the paint the frame is chrome.

I have left the handlebars bare so that you can customize it with whatever color bartape you like. I have some colors of tape for sale. Let me know if you want me to bring these along when we meet up. I can install the bartape while me meet if you need.

Old grease, combined with dirt, will harden and damage the operation of the bearings. This will cause internal damage, and can make your bike dangerous(especially with the headset bearings which allow you to steer). If you're looking to buy any used bike, find out when the last time the bearings were overhauled (not a "tune-up"). If it has not been done in 5 yrs, I strongly recommend having it done.
