This Class AB amplifier was manufactured when Soundstream was recognized as a legendary brand in car audio whose highly coveted amps produced clean, reliable under-rated power and featured high quality construction. This model is comparable to current high end amplifiers by Audison, Zapco, Sundown Audio, etc.
Fully functional old school SQ 4 channel amplifier that delivers audiophile sound at 140 W per channel at 4 ohms and 240 W per channel at 2 ohms. Advanced design includes built-in Hawkins Bass Control for subwoofer equalization, Rapid Use Branched Impulse power supply that eliminates power sags, Stabilized Apex Current Topology to enhance stereo imaging, Harmonic Bass Alignment to produce tighter, more accurate bass, output clipping indicators, three forms of protection – speaker output, ground fault and thermal, differentially balanced RCA inputs to eliminate ground loop noise, adjustable input level control, phase switch, and variable crossover network.
This amp is rated at an unreal 0.005% Total Harmonic Distortion, and signal to noise at 105 dB compared to a typical amp – say JL Audio RD400-4 that delivers 75 W per channel at 1% distortion and 104 dB. Damping factor is 1800 at 100Hz and 960 at 10 KHz, which is way higher than typical and provides for tighter bass control. Frequency response is 10 Hz to 40 KHz +/- 0.5 dB and -3 dB at 71 KHz. In real world terms, the music sounds natural, open and unrestrained. Overall condition is good with a few small scuffs and scratches to the finish but nothing significant. Selling because I needed to go with a physically smaller amp so I could add another piece of equipment in the same space.
The amp measures 11.13” x 22.06” x 2.69” and weighs a hefty 25 pounds.
