This Ibanez TS5 Tube Screamer has been professionally modified by Steve McKinley of Tube Screamer Mods with the TS808 PLUS MOD for world-class Tube Screamer tone.
The legendary and iconic green Ibanez Tube Screamer overdrive pedal used by vast oceans of players...past, present and future. To list its users would be practically impossible as there are so many. Its potent sonic brew is a rare example of when the electrical circuit planets lined up to bestow a true gem of overdrive. It is truly the “gold standard” (or more appropriately the “green standard”) countless other pedals are measured against. So, it’s no wonder that so many want more of what it has to offer.
Inspired by the Robert Keeley Mod Plus (Keeley no longer mods pedals, he only sells his own). Like the Keeley Mod Plus, the Tube Screamer Mods TS808 PLUS MOD first takes this Ibanez TS5 and modifies its circuit to TS808 specifications.
Next, every component added is of the highest quality. There are metal film resistors in the circuit to improve the signal to noise ratio many guitarists desire. Film capacitors are used in the tone section to provide the smoothest midrange and high frequency components to your tone while increasing the bass response of the pedal.
The choice of capacitors for the unique Tone Cap Mod is to increase the low end tone of your guitar without the slightest bit of muddiness or dullness to your tone. It is not a bass boost.
In addition, the More/Less Mod allows you to have less distortion in the lower settings of the Drive control and more distortion and saturation in the higher setting of the control. All of the stock Tube Screamer settings are possible throughout the midrange of the control and all of the singing sweet midrange tone is still there!
Per Mike Piera of Analogman and Robert Keeley of Keeley Electronics, the TI RC4558P chip is the one used in some early Ibanez TS808 pedals and will give you the true TS808 sound. Many collectors agree that the TS808 with the TI RC4558P chip are some of the finest sounding pedals in the production.
Also, the Switch circuit has been upgraded for reliable switching and with its SUPER BRIGHT BLUE LED installed, there's no question about whether it's on or off!
